South Korean government YouTube channel hacked to post cryptocurrency scam videos

Korean YouTube channels with millions of subscribers have attracted the attention of crypto scammers.

Hackers have attacked several major South Korean YouTube channels in the past few months. After gaining access, most of the hackers used the platform to download cryptocurrency-related videos.

Among the victims were Official YouTube channel of the Korean government. Earlier this month, a group of cybercriminals hijacked the channel to promote a cryptocurrency scam featuring images of Elon Musk

Criminals changed the name of this Youtube channel to “SpaceX Invest” to convince viewers that it has something to do with Elon Musk's spaceship company.

To add to the trust of viewers, scammers have posted videos of Elon Musk's interviews talking about bitcoin and other digital currencies.

However, the South Korean government quickly responded and identified the scam a few hours later.

Park Tae-hwan – team leader at AhnLab's security emergency response center - pointed out that the real aim of most attackers is to gain access and post cryptocurrency scam videos to a malicious user. large audience.
