Instagram, the American photo and video sharing social networking service, announced it will support NFT from some of the most popular blockchains.
According to Coindesk, Instagram is planning to integrate NFT from blockchains Ethereum, Polygon, Solarium and Flow. The reason Instagram chose these 4 names is because “These are the networks that host and account for the majority of transactions in digital collections, for example Ethereum has Bored Apes leading by market capitalization.”
Test run program NFT will only support users in the US, in the future Instagram will expand to other countries. And it is still unclear if Instagram will support NFT from all 4 chains at official launch.
In addition, Coindesk also said that Instagram intends to support widely used crypto wallets such as metamask.
“By simply connecting to a wallet, users can prove ownership of their NFT, recommend NFT on personal profiles, tag NFT creators…and many more features Instagram plans to roll out. on the platform”
CoinDesk has confirmed Instagram will not charge users to post and share NFTs, as Twitter initially did for hexagonal NFT profile pictures in January.
This decision could create a rush of new cultural vision for NFTs. Instagram has over a billion monthly active users, many of whom use the platform to promote and market their art.
